Noir meets reality

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen – Alan Moore & Kevin O’Neill (Laurie Dix)

This illustration style is very unusual, being a lot more stylistic than is usually seen in comics of this type. Even the text has been warped in a highly unusual way, as usually the text changes only in terms of font and balloon. Alan Moore is not commonly associated with doing things normally, however, and so it is hardly surprising that he should approach things differently this time. The perspectives are odd, the proportions are skewed and each image could be thoroughly analysed to try and understand exactly what is ‘wrong’ with each one, if one were so inclined. This is the most ‘different’ comic I have read so far, without going outside the boundaries which are usually associated with comics of this type.
